Traveling at the last minute usually means paying high prices because discounts are typically reserved for people who can plan ahead and wait for sales or the prices to go down. However, there are ways that you can get a great deal, even if you waited until the last minute to book your trip. While you may need to get that last spot on the plane, the airline also wants to sell that last spot, so if you know where to look you might still get the discounts that the people who booked months before were able to get.
This may sound a bit hard because you can’t be that flexible if you are planning last minute because you have a tight deadline. But if you can be flexible with a day or two or with different times of the day then you can get a much better deal. Going a day later can mean a 12-hour delay but it can also save you hundreds. So you might want to look into being as flexible as possible.
